Defending Truth, Justice, and Multiculturalism in our Public Schools
Our Classrooms Are Under Attack — And the Teachers Union Election Is Just Weeks Away

This May, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) election will shape the direction of NYC’s public education system for years to come. But this isn’t just about labor contracts — it’s about protecting our classrooms from extremist ideology and reclaiming education from those who use it to divide, indoctrinate, and erase.
THREE SLATES ARE RUNNING:
✅ The Unity Caucus, led by current UFT President Michael Mulgrew, represents the most stable, professional, and education-focused leadership option in this election. Their platform is grounded in “professional unionism” — advocating for fair compensation, better working conditions, and the professional development of educators, without dragging the union into divisive political battles. Unity has decades of experience negotiating contracts, defending teachers, and navigating the complex bureaucracy of the DOE. They’ve consistently prioritized.

❌ Arise — Tied to the radical MORE Caucus and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a political faction that has platformed antisemitic, anti-Zionist, and anti-American narratives in our schools and communities. The Movement of Rank-and-File Educators (MORE) is a radical caucus within the UFT, closely aligned with the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). MORE has consistently platformed and promoted antisemitic, anti-Zionist, and anti-American rhetoric — not just in political circles, but directly in New York City’s public schools. Through candidate endorsements, curriculum influence, and protest activism, MORE works to inject divisive ideology into classrooms, undermining Jewish inclusion, vilifying Israel, and politicizing education under the false banner of “justice.”
❌ A Better Contract (ABC) — The ABC slate has attracted support from UFT members seeking a break from the current union leadership. While they may initially appear less radical than ARISE/MORE, many of their candidates have deep ties to the MORE caucus and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)—groups known for promoting antisemitic, anti-Zionist, and anti-American rhetoric in schools and communities. ABC presents itself as a member-led, grassroots movement focused on organizing and mobilizing educators to strengthen union power and amplify member voices—but the affiliations of several key figures suggest a more extreme agenda beneath the surface.
Why This Election Matters?
This May’s United Federation of Teachers (UFT) election will shape not only the direction of labor negotiations — but the very values, culture, and integrity of New York City’s public school system for the next generation.
At stake is whether NYC classrooms remain places of education — or become platforms for political indoctrination and antisemitic ideology.
Radical candidates from the MORE Caucus and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are running under two banners: ARISE and, deceptively, A Better Contract (ABC). These factions are working to reshape curriculum, retrain teachers, and politicize student life under the false flag of “justice.”
They have:
Glorified terrorist-linked movements, including Hamas, especially after October 7
On October 7, 2023, the DSA issued a statement attributing Hamas's attack to Israel's "apartheid regime," while condemning all civilian casualties. The organization reaffirmed its support for Palestinian statehood and called for an end to U.S. financial support to Israel. This stance led to internal debates and external criticism, with some members distancing themselves from the DSA. Wikipedia
Repeated calls for “Intifada” and “From the river to the sea” — slogans calling for Israel’s elimination
During pro-Palestinian protests, including those organized by Young Democratic Socialists of America (YDSA) chapters, slogans like "Intifada" and "From the river to the sea" were chanted. While some view these phrases as calls for Palestinian liberation, others interpret them as advocating for the elimination of Israel. Wikipedia Wikipedia
Pushed antisemitic tropes and revisionist history into staff trainings and curriculum proposals
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reported a record number of antisemitic incidents in the U.S. in 2024, with 58% related to Israel. The ADL noted that certain anti-Zionist rhetoric and support for violence were counted as antisemitic. University campuses, where groups like YDSA are active, were highlighted as hotspots for such incidents. AP News
Redefined Zionism as racism, targeting Jewish students and faculty with exclusionary rhetoric
Jamaal Bowman, a U.S. Representative, faced backlash within the DSA for his vote supporting Israel's Iron Dome defense system. He let his DSA membership lapse in 2022 but rejoined in 2024. Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1Wikipedia+1
Shri Thanedar, another U.S. Representative, renounced his DSA membership in October 2023, criticizing the organization for not adequately denouncing Hamas's attacks. Wikipedia
Tim Hernández, a Colorado state legislator and DSA member, attended a pro-Palestinian rally on October 7, 2023, and initially refused to condemn Hamas's actions. He later issued a formal condemnation. Wikipedia
Used union channels to silence dissent and punish those who speak out against antisemitism
In July 2024, six professors from the City University of New York (CUNY), five of whom are Jewish, petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear their lawsuit against the Professional Staff Congress (PSC) union. They contended that the PSC's public statements and actions were strongly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel, and that the union compelled them to accept its representation, infringing upon their First Amendment rights. This is not education reform. It’s ideological warfare in our schools.
❌ ARISE Coalition – Radical DSA/MORE Slate
Olivia Swisher – Candidate for UFT President, affiliated with The People’s Forum, a far-left hub for anti-Israel and pro-China activism
Aixa Rodriguez – Posted after Oct 7 defending anti-Zionist violence, appeared with Linda Sarsour, blamed “racist Zionists” for workplace firings
Peter Lamphere – DSA labor organizer and longtime promoter of far-left education policy
Tom Shcherbenko – Retired teacher, publicly jokes about flaunting DSA affiliation in union spaces
❌ ABC Slate – Reform Packaging, Radical Core
Though ABC presents itself as a reform movement focused on “member-led” priorities, many of its key leaders and backers are deeply embedded in the DSA/MORE political machine.
Amy Arundell – Former union rep removed after inflammatory responses to Oct 7; shared conspiratorial and antisemitic content before deleting her X account
Steve Swieciki – DSA organizer supporting radical union disruptors and amplifying anti-Israel messaging
Norm Scott – MORE Caucus co-founder, runs a blog attacking pro-Israel teachers and amplifying far-left platforms
Mike Schirtzer – Executive Board member and ABC campaign organizer; has regularly participated in DSA-affiliated events and strategy meetings
These slates are attempting a full political takeover of the UFT. If successful, NYC public schools will become the frontlines for antisemitic, anti-Zionist, and anti-American indoctrination — with children and educators caught in the crossfire.
✅ The Clear Alternative: UNITY
The Unity Caucus, led by current UFT President Michael Mulgrew, represents the most stable, professional, and education-focused leadership option in this election.
They’ve consistently prioritized:
Fair pay and benefits for teachers and school staff
Healthcare protection and retirement security
Member training and support for instructional excellence
Student-focused education policies grounded in academic integrity
We recognize that Unity is not perfect. There are members and educators who have voiced valid concerns about decisions made under Unity leadership — from contract details to member engagement. These critiques are part of any large, democratic institution.
But here is what Unity is not:
It is not aligned with the DSA
It is not linked to the MORE Caucus
It does not platform anti-Israel, antisemitic, or anti-American narratives
Unlike the ABC and ARISE slates — both of which are backed or heavily influenced by DSA and MORE operatives — Unity has never normalized terrorism, redefined Zionism as racism, or turned schools into ideological battlegrounds.
Unity respects ideological diversity. Its leadership includes Jewish educators, union professionals, and a wide spectrum of viewpoints. It has shown a willingness to work with stakeholders across political, cultural, and faith backgrounds — including those who stand against antisemitism and in defense of truth.
For these reasons, B’NEI Yisrael strongly supports the Unity Caucus in the 2025 UFT elections.
We do so not because we agree with them on every issue — but because they are the only slate that stands between professionalism and politicization, between education and indoctrination, between pluralism and extremism.
This is not justice. This is indoctrination — and it’s already here.
Why We’re Speaking Out Now
The growing threat is real, documented, and dangerous — and legacy institutions have failed to push back effectively. Because the election is weeks away. People don't know what is at stake, if the ideologues, teachers who want to speak out against Jew Hate, abuse, have zero protection
Karen Feldman, a veteran NYC public school history teacher and Holocaust educator, has spent more than 25 years shaping ethical education. A recipient of the 2023 Louis E. Yavner Teaching Award, Karen has been a relentless advocate for tolerance, Jewish heritage, and moral clarity in schools. In response to the post-October 7th wave of antisemitism, she co-founded and now leads the NYCPS Alliance, a coalition of over 2,000 educators, parents, and allies confronting bias in our schools.
Their latest achievement?
Entryism Exposed — a bombshell report developed in partnership with the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), revealing how extremist ideologies, foreign-funded agendas, and antisemitic narratives have infiltrated NYC public schools through curriculum, teacher training, and DOE-endorsed programs.
The report uses AI-based analysis of over 8,000 documents and flagged incidents — exposing:
Failure to track bias incidents
DOE-endorsed pro-Islamist and anti-Israel materials
Foreign financial ties and activist interference in curriculum development
Unmanaged political activism in schools
A widespread need for curriculum audits and deep reforms

The Big Question
How can anyone who normalizes antisemitic and anti-American views be trusted to lead New York City’s education system?
Let’s be clear about what UFT union leaders are responsible for:
Negotiating Contracts
But will those aligned with anti-Jewish narratives fight for Jewish teachers?
Advocating for Members
Will they defend Zionist teachers if targeted?
Protecting Workers' Rights
Will they uphold fairness when they’ve expressed political hatred toward their own colleagues?
Organizing the Union
How can they unify educators while marginalizing an entire people?
Shaping Policy & Legislation
Do we want people with anti-American affiliations writing our kids’ education priorities?
Training and Curriculum
If their public rhetoric is hateful, what will they introduce into DOE training?
Public Representation
Do we want our union represented by those who demonize Israel and dismiss Jewish history?
We Say No.
WE say NO to ABC Slate. WE say NO to ARISE
We say YES to Karen Feldman and the NYCPS Alliance. We say YES to B’NEI Yisrael — and a new era of truth, courage, and unity in education.
